Refund & Cancellation Policy

Last updated: July 8, 2026

This Refund & Cancellation Policy explains how to cancel a SheepHerder subscription, when you are entitled to a refund, and how billing works when you change plans. It supplements — and should be read alongside — our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Where this policy and the subscription terms overlap, they are intended to be consistent; if there is any conflict, the more specific provision applies.

1. How to Cancel

You can cancel a paid subscription yourself, at any time — no phone call, no email required, no retention gauntlet.

  • Go to Settings → Subscription and open Manage billing & cancel. This opens the secure Stripe customer portal, where you can cancel your plan, update your payment method, or switch your billing cycle.
  • Cancellation stops the next renewal. Your plan stays fully active through the end of the billing period you have already paid for, and then your account drops to the Free tier automatically.
  • You will receive an email confirmation once the cancellation is recorded. If you don't, contact us (below) and we'll confirm the status of your subscription.

If you can't reach the billing portal for any reason, email support@sheepherder.appfrom the address on your account and we'll cancel it for you.

2. What Happens After You Cancel

  • Access continues until period end. Canceling does not immediately revoke access. You keep every paid feature until the paid-through date.
  • Then you move to Free. After the paid period ends, your account reverts to the Free tier. Features tied to paid plans — additional connected platforms, autonomous posting, advanced analytics, CSV export, and similar — are locked, but your account is not deleted.
  • Your data. Your content and account data are retained after you drop to Free. If you also delete your account, data is handled as described in our Privacy Policy — retained for 30 days and then permanently deleted. You can export your data at any time before then.

3. Refund Eligibility

SheepHerder is billed in advance for each subscription period. Our general policy on recurring subscriptions is:

  • No prorated refunds for the current period. When you cancel, we do not refund the unused portion of the billing period you are already in. Instead, you keep access until that period ends. This mirrors Section 6.4 of our Terms of Service.
  • Duplicate or accidental charges. If you were charged twice for the same period, charged after a confirmed cancellation, or charged due to a clear billing error on our side, we will refund the incorrect charge in full. Contact us and reference the charge date.
  • Service failure. If a paid feature is unavailable for an extended, sustained period due to a fault on our side (not a third-party platform outage, API change, or algorithm change outside our control), contact us and we will work with you in good faith on a fair credit or refund.
  • Statutory rights. Nothing in this policy limits any non-waivable refund or cancellation right you have under the consumer law that applies to you. For example, some jurisdictions (including the EU and UK) grant a statutory withdrawal/cooling-off period for certain online purchases. Where such a right applies to you, it takes precedence over the general policy above.

Outside of the situations above, subscription payments are generally non-refundable once the period has begun. We would always rather you simply cancel before your next renewal than pay for time you won't use.

4. Lifetime Tiers

The Bellwether and Grand Shepherd tiers are one-time purchases that grant lifetime access rather than a recurring subscription. Because lifetime access and the associated perks are provisioned to your account immediately on purchase:

  • Lifetime purchases are final and non-refundable once access has been granted, except where a non-waivable statutory right (see Section 3) requires otherwise, or where the purchase is affected by a duplicate or clear billing error.
  • "Lifetime" means for the operational lifetime of the SheepHerder service. It is not transferable or resellable, and it is tied to the purchasing account.
  • If you believe you qualify for a statutory withdrawal right on a lifetime purchase, contact us promptly and we will review it under the applicable law.

5. Plan Changes and Billing-Cycle Proration

  • Upgrades take effect immediately. When you move to a higher tier mid-cycle, Stripe prorates the change: you are charged the difference between what you already paid and the new plan for the remainder of the current period, and the higher tier is available right away.
  • Downgrades take effect at period end.If you switch to a lower tier, you keep your current tier's features until the end of the period you have paid for, and the lower price applies from the next renewal. Downgrading may cause you to lose access to features and data tied to the higher plan (see Section 6.5 of the Terms of Service).
  • Switching billing cycle.Moving between monthly and annual billing is handled through the Stripe billing portal and takes effect according to Stripe's standard proration at the time of the change.
  • Price changes. We provide at least 30 days' notice before any price change, and an active annual rate is locked for as long as you stay on annual billing, as described on our pricing page.

6. How Refunds Are Issued

Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method through Stripe. Depending on your bank or card issuer, it may take several business days for the refund to appear on your statement after we process it. We do not issue cash refunds or refunds to a different payment method.

7. Governing Law

This policy is governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions, and is subject to any consumer-protection law that applies to you and cannot be waived by agreement.
